Building up a fanbase

After joining various social networking sites to promote my book,  I've come to the decision that Wattpad.com is the best.  You can put as little or as much of your manuscript on for reading as you want, and you can also build up your own reading list of books that interest you.  I only joined a week ago, but already the first three chapters of my novel 'The Porn Detective' have been read 151 times, and I now have 23 followers.  This all helps if eventually I decide to self-publish.
